INNOVATION DISTRICT
The owners of Harborage Marina are another major landholder; they have taken ownership of approximately 14.5 acres. Their stance is that there is room for everything in the District, as this is the only large tract of waterfront land left in St. Pete where residences, marinas, offices, restaurants, retail and innovative labs can coexist.
Harborage is drawn to the District, recognizing the important role of Marine Science and the boating industry on our economy. They have been fortunate to collaborate with innovative companies working within the District which have helped them become the city’s first clean marina. Harborage joined many of its stakeholder peers as leadership completed the District’s first Master Plan, marking the Innovation District’s 10th anniversary.
The industrial buildings and marine service operations currently existing could be complemented by a mix of retail, office space and residential units that capitalize on the area’s waterfront appeal, surrounding science, technology, entrepreneurial and academic institutions and its proximity to Downtown.
Established in 1894, the park that once served as “town square” and the site for political debates, civic rallies, picnics, outdoor events and performances is being given new life.
